So, you’ve been training your rainbow flag-waving arm all through lockdown, your body’s covered in glitter like you’ve just opened an invitation to a super tacky wedding, you’re a little bit tipsy, you’ve got your outfit on (or lack thereof), and now all you need is a place to celebrate the 2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.

…Well look no further because we have the answer! 30 answers to be exact! Why so many, you ask? Because Mardi Gras and Facebook Australia have partnered up and awarded grants to 30 venues across Australia to host Mardi Gras viewing parties.

The dazzling spectacle of Mardi Gras will shine across the nation from outback areas to seaside towns and inner-city hot spots (and for once, we’re not talking the covid kind), on Saturday 6 March 2021.

Along with screening the SBS Parade broadcast live, each venue will feature a show stopping line-up of queer entertainment, from drag shows to live music, comedy and more.

If you’re lucky enough to live in NSW, open your window, throw a glitter covered pebble in any direction and you’ll hit a Mardi Gras Viewing Venue. The venues are:

The Bank Hotel, Newtown
The Bearded Tit, Redfern
Bitter Phew, Darlinghurst
Burdekin Hotel, Darlinghurst
Café Fredas, Darlinghurst
The Colombian Hotel, Darlinghurst
Daniel San, Manly

And if you are from Victoria, all I can say is pray and pray HARD that everyone wears their masks so you can make it out in time to shake some a$$ on these dance floors:

Where ever you are, stay safe, stay smiling and most importantly, stay 1.5 meters away from me.
